U13's Treforest 3 v 0 AFC Dragons

Treforest U13's 3 v 0 AFC Dragons

Saturday 27th January 2007 ( League Fixture )

The Under 13's played thier first game for three weeks, so all the boys were keen to get back playing again, if a little rusty. The game began with both sides playing some atractive football and creating some good chances, neither side unfortunately able to finish them off, the first half came to a close with the scores remaining 0.0.

The second half began much as the first had finished, with some excellent moves and skillful football being played by both the Dragons and Treforest, the Dragons coming closest when a fine shot struck the Treforest post and came back out to be cleared by the excellent Treforest defensive four. Then came the breakthrough, Treforest broke from the back and the midfield moved the ball quickly, with Nathen Warren finding the net to break the deadlock. The Dragons continued to battle and made the Treforest 11 work hard for everything, the second and decisive goal came midway through the second half with George Daly shooting from outside the box and the ball squeezing through a crowded penalty box to find the back of the net. Treforest were now playing some very good football and making the Dragons work hard to regain possession, Treforest put the game beyond doubt when George Daly chipped the Dragons goal keeper to make the final score 3.0.

Credit should go to both side for a great game of football and the referee, Alan Griffiths, who although having little to do, enjoyed the game as much as the large number of supporters from both sides.

Well done to the under 13's ALL of you played as we now you can, and you fully deserved the win.

U17's - Treforest 6 - Llantwit Fardre 1

Under 17s Treforest 6 - Llantwit Fardre 1

In Treforests first game for 2 months they entertained Llantwit Fardre at the White Tips stadium and a dogged Llantwit made them work hard for the 3 points especially in the first half.
Treforest took the lead when Scott Armitage put in an excellent strike which left the keeper with no chance.

Treforest further increased their lead to 6 with an hattrick a piece from Armitage and Lian Davies before Llantwit got a consolation.

Girls Under 11's Matches 21.01.07 & Tour News

After almost an eight week break, the girls played 5 games in the Engine House, Dowlais on Sunday against Caerphilly Cavaliers and Pant & Dowlais. (Thanks to Paul and Wendy for letting us use the Engine House - yet again!!)

The girls all played well, if a little rusty.. losing two and drawing three. With some fine goal keeping from Ella Cooks and strong midfield play from Danielle Annereau.

Good luck to the Cooks family who have been a part of the girls team since the Summer, as they are moving out of the area - Ella and Thea will be missed. Also thanks to Neil who has given us a tremendous amount of help with the coaching. The Cooks have left us a wonderful memento in the form of the "Cooks Cup", which will be presented to the player of the month.

Congratulations to Caitlin Woodland who Neil chose as this months player of the month, based on her performance on Sunday.

A tour is currently being organised in April to Brean Sands. For any information about this contact Rona or Andrew on the usual number.

U12's Match Report - Llantwit Fardre v Treforest

Llantwit Fardre 0 - Treforest 2

Despite extremely difficult conditions, Treforest dominated this game fromstart to finish and were only denied a goal rout by puddles, mud and somefine goal keeping. With the ever dependable Treforest defence squeezing up the field, and captain, Jack Elley leading the forward line, the midfield battle which was rumoured to ensue never really got further than a brief tussle.

With the ball beingspread to both wingers on every possible opportunity, fine performances from Luke Clarke and Rhys Boulderson ensured Llantwit's fullbacks were alwayson the back foot. Treforest's Callum Holden found himself on the wrong side of a yellow card late in the first half, following a lunging tackle, but soon after set inmotion a blistering attack which saw Tom Haggett drive home Treforests firstjust before the whistle.

After the break Treforest pushed forward again and went close on a number of occassions. With the midfield and attackers being driven forward by surging runs from center-halves Ben Rousell and Luke Rees, the game was put beyond doubt with 12 minutes left, when midfielder Connor Young drove a shot at goal which took a wicked deflection past the helpless keeper to secure a superb 2-0 win.

With a cup semi-final and a tilt at the championship to come, Treforest enjoy a 3 week break before the next battle begins.
